CONSIGN YOUR CD, LP or DVD AT BULL MOOSE
Thanks for considering selling your work through Bull Moose.  We have been selling recordings and videos by local artists since 1989.  Many of us are musicians or film makers, so we know how hard it is to get music and movies into stores.  We can help you devote more time to being creative by keeping the business stuff as simple as possible. 

We won't make you grovel to get your stuff into our stores.  We do need you to read and understand some things first so everything runs smoothly later.

First of all, we intend to treat you as fairly as possible and we hope you will be fair to us.

Second, we want to help you reach whatever sales goals you have.  There is a lot you can do to make sure you get there.  We will gladly accept tickets to see your next film premiered at Cannes.  When Led Zeppelin opens for you at Madison Square Garden, we will do our best to make the show.

If you are going to consign with Bull Moose, you need to agree to the following:

• You have the legal right to distribute what you sell to us.  One might think that the RIAA has better things to do than police our local music section.  One would be wrong.
• You must be based in New England or the Canadian Maritimes.  If you are from somewhere else, please have your distributor reach us through normal distribution channels.
• Pricing.  What we will charge depends on how much you charge us.

• Please keep in mind that most hit CDs are $9.97 or $11.97 when they first go on sale.  Unless your recording and marketing budgets total more than $100,000, you probably don't want us to sell your CD for more than $11.97.  $9.97 or less is a better idea.
• You must consign your CD to us as cheaply as you sell it to anyone else.  If some online vendor takes a $4 cut and you have them sell it for $8, you should only charge us $4.  Likewise if you sell it at shows for 3 bucks you cannot sell it to us for 5 bucks.  Basically, we do not want you to charge us more than you charge anyone else.  That would not be fair!  If we find out that you sell it to someone else for less, you agree that we can change the price we pay you.  When you make it big you will find that you have to charge all retailers the same price.
• We will pay you for what we sell.  That sounds silly to say, but believe it or not, one band had the mistaken impression that if they had their friends try to shoplift their CD from us or hide it under the bin, we would still pay them for it.  We will pay you for what we sell.  Don't worry about this though.  We have really good security systems, so almost nothing is ever stolen.
• We will try your stuff for six months.  After six months we probably will e-mail you to take some or all of it back.  If you don't need them we will gladly dispose of them for you.  Please don't feel badly  We return Madonna CDs and Johnny Depp movies too.  We will give you a couple of weeks to pick up your discs at our Scarborough store or we will ship them to you for a fee.  ***If you don't respond to your e-mail, we will assume that you don't want your discs and we will get rid of them.*** Read that again.  We will chuck your stuff if you abandon it or don't pay attention to your e-mail.
• We will communicate with you through e-mail.  It is your responsibility to monitor that e-mail account and tell us if you change e-mail addresses.  You should add bullmoosemusic@yahoo.com and noreply@willow.crickerywood.com to your safe senders list.  We have too many consigners to call everybody with important announcements, so please make sure we can e-mail you.  It's not our fault if you miss an important message like "A giant asteroid will hit Earth tomorrow night.  Meet us at the store at noon to board the spaceship.  You will be allowed one carry-on bag."
• You will tell people that we carry your CD or DVD.  Otherwise it won't sell and you will just take space away from another person who is trying to make it.  That's not fair (and it's a total waste of your time.)
• Here are several versions of our logo for use on flyers and websites.  You can go here for some simple ways to increase your sales.
• We hope that you will make us your preferred web retailer.  If you feel that you need to work with a number of websites, do what you have to do, but perhaps you could make the link to www.bullmoose.com more prominent than the other ones.  After all, we are just as local and independent as you are.  People looking for local music and movies are more likely to go to Bull Moose or www.bullmoose.com than anywhere else.
• Getting paid:  Every other week our computer checks to see who needs to be paid.  If we owe you more than $50 we will automatically send a check to the address we have on file.
• Online access: You will have access to a website where you can get basic sales and inventory information.
• Re-orders:  Please keep an eye on your inventory and restock us when necessary.  We might contact you if we need more, but we might not.
• Other distributors:  Let us know if you will sell your item through other distributors or consign through CD Baby.  We will have to do a little extra work to make sure you are paid.
• Termination: Either party can terminate this agreement for any reason.  It might take us a few days to stop selling your items if you terminate the agreement.
