This micro-budgeted, gay-themed indie film from 1988 covers an important week in the life of Buddy Fields (Michael Waite), a sexually curious young man who abandons his rural, upstate community in favor of bustling New York City, where he finds friends and lovers alike. Director Roger Stigliano's minimalist approach to storytelling includes long takes, fixed camera angles, and single-source lighting. The film has no dramatic arc whatsoever; it's a loosely connected series of seemingly random scenes. But Waite's Buddy is a sweet, gentle, ingratiating character whose big-city experiences will prove enjoyable to gay audiences.
