"Let the Music Play" is the authorized story of the Doobie Brothers from their beginnings as a biker band to their breakthrough with "Listen to the Music" in 1972, sustained successes and lineup changes in the mid '70's, their change in musical direction and further success with the arrival of Michael McDonald in 1976. Worn out by non-stop touring and internal dissent, the band broke up in 1982, following a "farewell" concert. There were sporadic reunions in the '80's before the band re-formed permanently in the early '90's and have continued touring and recording ever since. This new film featured contributions from all surviving key band members, producer Ted Templeton and manager Bruce Cohen.
